Home - Winter trek to Dhakuri - Dhaukuri to Chiltha and back - Part 6
We have almost reached dhakuri pass
After reaching dhakuri pass, if you turn left, there is a Chiltha temple (around 2 kms walk). However, that is tough, so we decided to turn right and go towards the Chiltha mai temple (around 2 kms walk again). The path to this temple is easier, as it is through some bugyals. And in the winters, a bugyal is a photographers delight (it is also a delight in the monsoons)
Crossing dhakuri pass and then walking towards the bugyals
The awesome view of the might nanda kot (kot = castle)It stands guard over the Nanda devi. Below it lies the Pindar valley, wiht the pindari glacier at its head
We are now above the tree line. notice how the tree leaves and bushes are laden with snow. it will fal away by late afternoon
Looking back. This is where the bugyal begins and the trees end
The first view of the bugyals. Like a hungry kid looks at an icecream and his mouth waters, similarly a photographer looks at a bgyal and his finger itches to take a snap :-)
The chiltha bugyal starts - a photographers delight
Nanda kot and surrounding peaks (changuch, biljuri, etc)
Maiktoli peak, with the Sunderdhunga valley below it
