Hi Prashant / Almoraboy,

Excellent Travelog.

I have been reading your comments on Munsiyari and Khaliya top and have been very facinated by your experience.

I am also travelling to Munsiyari in June'09 with my family (2 adults + 2 kids ) and intend to trek Khaliya top as well (especially after seeing your blog).

I have done some normal treks in the past but alone or with friends but with my family it will be the 1st experience.

With your experience, I would like to have some suggestions from you -

1. I understand that this trek can be done in 2 days. Is it advisable and generally do people venture out to this trek with a family (kids age 8 and 12)?

2. How is the Khaliya trek - simple/moderate or difficult? Is it gentle slope or has patches which are dangerous to trek, especially with Family?

3. Any other normal/easy treks in Munsiyari that you can suggest?

4. You mentioned contacts - Ganga Ram or Laxman in Munsiyari. Just wandering - do they arrange everything (tents/food etc..) and we can rely on them?

Appreciate your suggestions in this regards

Regards
Ashok

Hey Prashant..thanks for compiling all these wonderful photographs and information. Could you indicate if 10-17th April time is a decent time to go to Binsar+Munsiyari in terms of having chance for clear views? Thanks

April should be a decent time. Binsar gives you a large panaroma. Munsyari gives you a close up of the Panchchuli...

How will be the weather in Munsyari and will there be snow at Khalia top in december first week? Also can you tell me how far is Rantham top and how much extra days it will take to do Rantham top? Do you get buses from Kathgodam to Minsyuri at midnight time?
